In the beautiful Tsinghua Park in Beijing, Shantou girl Chen Kexin is also one of them. The difference is that this girl who knocked on the gate of Tsinghua University with a paintbrush and won the first place in Guangdong Province’s art candidate with a total score of 613. She turned around for her dream during the summer vacation of her second year of high school and began to receive art system training. Her journey to pursue her dreams seems to be more difficult than that of ordinary people.

She has always been a good girl at home, but in the first semester of her senior year, she made a decision that stunned her parents, teachers and classmates – embarked on the road of art exams with an uncertain future. Chen Kexin said that this decision was “just to grasp my own life”, and all of this started with her childhood designer dream…
Give up literature and art: unwilling to follow the path set by her parents
The reporter saw in an interview at Chen Kexin’s home that this is a home of books that exudes a strong artistic and humanistic atmosphere everywhere, and various Chaoshan embroidery, wood carving and other works of art with Chaoshan characteristics can be seen everywhere. In Chen Kexin’s room, her desk was filled with various cartoon models and many painting manuscripts, and the sheets on her bed were also printed with cartoon characters that she had done by herself.
Chen Kexin, wearing two small braids, a pair of round frames, and a white shirt, looked full of vitality. In her conversation with reporters, she spoke and acted gracefully and showed her extroverted and cheerful side. According to Chen Kexin’s recollection, like many people of the same age, Babaylan, she was studying for a child at the age of four or five.When she was in kindergarten, her parents enrolled her in the Komiks art interest class, and she picked up her brush for the first time. She also fell in love with this art at that time.
”Since childhood, I have been fond of doing a lot of things, but only painting has been persevering all the way.” Chen Kexin told reporters that she is the only daughter in the family, and her parents work in government agencies and financial systems respectively. Her tutoring since childhood made her a very conscious good girl. Her parents also designed a steady growth trajectory for her early in the morning – to be admitted to a prestigious university and become a financial worker after graduation. Painting is just a kind of extracurricular interest to learn.
Chen Kexin’s father told reporters that his daughter has been very conscious and sensible since she was a child. He no longer had to worry about her studies since Chen Kexin was in the second grade. “Every time she finishes her homework, she will check it carefully several times. I also told her that she needs to check it by herself. If she does something wrong, she will be punished by herself the next day.” Chen Kexin’s father said that it is precisely because of this awareness and seriousness that his daughter can rank among the top in the class in every exam. After entering Jinshan Middle School, she also took the first place in the liberal arts in the school in her first year of high school.
But I thought my daughter would go on smoothly according to her own ideas, but when Chen Kexin first semester of senior high school, she learned that her daughter decided to embark on the road of art exams and strive for the designer dream that she had laid down as a child.
”My first reaction was surprise!” Chen Kexin’s father told reporters that he was opposed at the beginning. After all, there were too many uncertainties in the art exam, and Kexin had not received systematic art training. It can be said that it was “zero foundation”, and the risk of taking this path was too great. But Kexin said that she didn’t want to keep following the path set by her parents for her. She hoped that she could grasp her life by herself, insist on doing what she liked, and realize her childhood dream.
The origin of dreams: Hope to make the world a better place
When dreams and reality conflict, should we obey our parents’ arrangements or stick to our original dreams? Chen Kexin admitted that she had once struggled, but when she calmed down and slowly listened to the true voice deep in her heart, the dream that had been laid in her childhood made her resolutely choose the art exam path.

Chen Kexin said that this work was popular among students as soon as it was born. Everyone is circulating and looking forward to Kexin’s updates every week. For a time, competing to read the comic “Rainbow Flower” became a great pleasure for students’ extracurricular life, and students also called Chen Kexin “little painters”.
The reporter saw that there were five comics called “Rainbow Flower”, each with about 50 pages. Whether in terms of illustration layout or text design, this comic is almost the same as published comic books. “It was not until junior high school that the update stopped. Later, some classmates asked if there were any updates,” said Chen Kexin.

Speaking of this, Chen Kexin smiled embarrassedly and said that her original designer dream came from her greed when she was a child. Every time she passed by a bakery, she would drool at the piping cakes in the window. At that time, she would say to herself, “I will design such a beautiful cake in the future!”
As she grew older, Chen Kexin’s design dream also developed from the initial design of beautiful cakes to the later becoming a fashion designer and jewelry designer. In high school, Chen Kexin began to be interested in architecture and environmental art design. In her spare time, she often painted architectural sketches at Jinshan Middle School, surrounded by mountains and seas, and often went to the arcade streets and alleys in the old city of Shantou to experience environmental art designThe creative power that designers bring to the human environment.
No matter what field the designers they become, in Chen Kexin’s opinion, they all have one thing in common – they seem to be able to wield the magic wand in their hands to make the world a better place. Dream-chasing journey: Going to Beijing alone for 9 months for “Devil Special Training”.
Brave people can always make their dreams come true. Chen Kexin’s persistence in her dream also touched her parents. They gradually changed from initial surprise and opposition to agreement and support.

Compared with the classroom atmosphere of Komiks in the school, life in the Beijing studio seems boring. Chen Kexin told reporters that her daily art courses range from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., learning sketching and colors during the day, and sketching classes at night, and only rest for one hour at noon. Every night after class, she has to complete the homework assigned by the teacher. She often can sleep until two o’clock at night. ”I don’t have time to have breakfast every morning because I’m so sleepy! In order to complete the review, during the last three-month sprint period, Chen Kexin “makes up” at school almost every day, and even did not go home on weekends. In addition to borrowing wrong questions from her classmates to review, she also checked for omissions and made up for the missing items through online classes, and tried her best to catch up with the review progress of other students. During this period, she had almost no leisure activities.
Finally, after three months of sudden review, Chen Kexin and her classmates walked into the college entrance examination room. It is understood that this year’s college entrance examination department calculated the total scores of professional courses and cultural courses for the first time. In the end, Chen Kexin won the total score of 613 Komiks scores in the province, and successfully was admitted to Tsinghua University. Chen Kexin’s score made teachers and classmates say “unexpectedly”.
